Living Room Tour

Hi readers! It has been a crazy couple of months. Everything that could possibly happen in 2020 has happened and more. But anywho, today I really want to share with you all a quick tour of my living room space. I have been moving and tweaking this space since my husband and I moved in 2017. I started with the sofa adjacent to the fireplace, no real entryway and so many other situations that just didn’t work. But now, I really think I’m happy with the layout.

The Beginning

As I stated earlier, I started with a completely different layout than I have now. As you can see the red sofa (cringe) was adjacent to the fireplace with the side table next to it. Cute right?

Changing The Layout

This layout worked fine for a while, especially since I really couldn't see any other way to place the couch. So this was the way for a year or so. After that, I started making small changes. I added a trifted orange accent chair to the corner of the room. I incorporated plants I added curtains and string lights. This made the living room pretty warm and comfy. Then as the Fall of 2019 approached, I started thinking about where I wanted to place my Christmas tree (yes I’m one of THOSE people), The year prior, I had nowhere to put our huge tree so I placed it in the dining room and it worked. But now I was really wanting to have our tree in the living room, and that my friends and where the rearranging began.

Finally…

After Christmas my husband I FINALLY purchased a new sofa! And that’s when our living space was complete. I had been eyeing a green velvet sofa for months! I finally settled on the Sven sofa from Article. It tied the whole room together. I may type up a review for it later on, but for now, let me give you that tour.

This is how our living room was meant to be. It feels and looks more open. This layout also allowed us to create an entryway where we really couldn’t before. Our accent chairs now have their own corners and help to close in the space. Making it great for conversations.

There's Always That One Thing

We’ve all heard the saying that: sometimes when you stop looking for something, that’s when it appears. I think this same rule can be applied to this particular moment in my life. About 4 months ago I was feeling really down about my job that I’d been with for twelve years. I was constantly feeling unappreciated and unheard. Somedays I even felt disrespected. On one of those depressing days, I remember just heading to Starbucks for a pick me up during my break. I called my husband (as I usually do during my break), and I was so upset and I started venting to him and I remember telling him I cant do this anymore. His reply as “Do what you have to do”.

I took this to heart because I realize right then and there that what I needed was peace. So fast foward to now, and I’ve gotten exactly that. three months of quartantine forced me to take a break, meditate, and focus on me. There were no distractions, no store runs no Starbucks pick me ups and it worked. It’s always that one thing that you dont even know you are desperate for that shows up unexpectantly.
